The Bike

There are two distance; 22K for the Olympic and Mudder Bike, and 11K bike for the Sprinters. Both routes share common portions of the course

The bike route climbs from Iron Creek Lake up to the Old Baldy trail system in the Black Hills National Forest. The ride is entirely within forested areas, so bring your technical skills and expect lots of single-track.

The 22K Bike exit the Transition Area and rides along the farm road that leaves the campgrounds. At the water stop, you will take a left turn onto a single track path to enter the Black Hills Forest by passing over a bike fence bridge. You will follow this path until you hit Baldy Lake (which is now a green pasture now) then turn right to cross the bridge. You are now on the Old Baldy Trail. Follow the path goes through the trees to the split point. At the Split point , Olympic and Mudders will turn left and Sprinter will turn right. Follow the trail in a counter-clock wise direction. Turn left at the East/West junction point (do not go out to the parking lot) and follow the East Side loop. At the end of the East side loop you will again come on Baldy Lake and cross the bridge to the split point. The second time you hit the split point you will turn right towards Old Baldy Peak. Before you get to the Peak trail you will turn slight right to follow the path through the trees and the open field until you reach the Forest Service road. Follow the road until you get the road gate. Go around the gate and as soon as you pass the creek turn right to get back on the single track.  The single track  parallel the road along a snowmobile route until you reach another Forest Service road. Turn right and ride until you see an orange sign causing you to turn right (this point will be on the 8K run as well) up to Taco Alley. A slight climb to the Taco Alley fence bridge, then turn right again to follow the single track down Taco Alley to the water stop. At the farm road (water stop) turn left to follow the farm road back to transition.
