The Swim

Mass or wave start for the swim. There are four buoys that map out the 500 meter course. Sprinters and Mudders will swim one lap. Olympic racers will complete two laps with a short beach run reenter the course/ All swimmer will go through the finish arch to complete the swim.

We will either have a mass start or wave start depending on the number of racers. 50 racers and below we will utilize a mass start. 75 and above we will utilize wave starts with the Olympic racers starting first. We will start the Sprinters and Mudders after the first wave passes the middle buoy on the far leg of the triangle. With 50 to 75 Racers, we will determine the ratio of Olympic to Sprinters to determine if we use mass or wave starts,  All starts are in-water at knee to hip depth.

The color of the racer’s caps will determine what race they are in. Normally we use Blue Caps for Olympic racers, Yellow caps for Sprinters and Mudders, and Red caps for self-identified swimmer that may need help completing the swim course
