The Run

After descending back to Iron Creek Lake from the bike course, the race goes into a challenging one-lap run around the lake, where spectators cheer on the racers as they tackle difficult sections of the run.

After racking your bike you will exit the left side of the  transition area and take a immediate right turn to get onto the farm road and  climb out of the campground. After you pass the last cabin you will follow the single track to the top of the hill. Once you reach the top there is a split point with and orange sign. 8K runners will turn right at the sign and cross the Taco Alley fence bridge and again take a immediate right to follow the single tract that parallels the fence line to the trees. Follow the path that starts a climb through the trees until you reach a four-wheel track, then turn left to Harrison’s Hill. The path now follows under the power line on a downward path. Just before you reach the campground road you will turn left and follow the cut-off to reach another Forest Service Road. turn left onto the Forest Service road and go around the barricade to follow the tree cover road to the Taco Alley Return orange sign (if you bike the course it the same sign) At the sign, turn left to climb back to the Taco Alley fence bridge. Cross the bridge and turn right down Taco Alley. At the end of Taco Alley is the water stop and the farm road. Turn left on the road and start back to transition. About half way back you will turn right again to go down into the field to cross the creek and pass through the gate to come up on to the end of the cabin road. Follow the road until you reach the road that goes around the lake. Make a right turn and follow that road to the Watering Pole and take a left around it to follow the mowed path back towards the lake. Once you are near the lake, follow the single track path around the lake to the dam. At the dam, turn left to run across the top of the dam to the bridge, Once you cross the bridge you will take an immediate right to climb the stone face of the hill. Follow the path to the other side of the hill and go down the hill, at the bottom of the hill take a left turn and follow the path closest to the lake to get back to the finish line. During this last part of the run be careful of fishermen and people at the beach area.
